I think this is the perfect beginners meditation video because it’s short, gets to the point and it simplifies the definition of meditation down to a single word
In the video Mingyur Rinpoche states that…
…you can meditate everywhere, any time, under any circumstances.
He then goes on to say that this is because awareness is the essence of meditation.
What I also got from the video is that with meditation, you don’t have to do anything but “be” in your surroundings and as long as you become aware of something and you fully maintain that awareness, THAT is meditation.
It’s as simple as that.
It just goes to show that meditation can be as simple or as complex a task as we make it and this ultimately determines how long we stick at a meditation practice for.
The more complex we make a task, the less likely we’ll stick to it. Hence why I really enjoyed this video and the way it makes everything simple, direct and to the point.
What has been your experience with meditation? Did you start off all enthused but stopped after finding it all too hard? Let me know your meditation experiences, I’d love to hear from you.
In the meantime, be still and enjoy the silence,
