To Get Results, How Long Should You Meditate?

If you’re like me and you’re looking for information on meditation for beginners then there are many places on the internet to check out but one article I found on the Do You Yoga website called How Long Should You Meditate to Get Real Results? spells it out in a very beginner friendly way without buzzwords or, getting too “new agey” about the whole meditation concept.

How often should you meditate to get real results? Well, the article answers the question by saying…

If you are just starting out, I recommend you meditate for anywhere from 5 to 10 minutes every day.

You can start with even less. Maybe try it for 1 minute in the morning. And when you can sit still and relax for that long, move to 2 minutes. And then you keep increasing your time as you get comfortable with the practice.

The most important thing is to just start. The next most important thing is to be consistent.

Starting your meditation practise, being consistent with it and (most importantly) being patient with what you’re getting out of it are the most important aspects of having meditation become an essential part of daily life.

Beginning a meditation practise is like going to the gym. You start off with great intentions but after a little while you taper off the commitment until you’re not doing it at all but like the gym, real results in meditation come from sustained patience and persistence.
